An Autumnal Weekend in York

This weekend I had the loveliest, cosiest, autumnal time… and it was very much needed. I have audit exams coming up, and it’s quite tricky to balance postgraduate studying with full time work, and wedding planning sometimes; so this weekend was just the respite I needed.

On Saturday, it was over to our wedding venue to pick out our flowers and table designs. It’s always so lovely to see the venue in all it’s autumnal glory, so many breathtaking colours and views. I certainly dressed for the occasion, accessorising my new winter jumper knit with a spritz of Jo Malone English Oak – the most perfect scent for this time of year.

I also picked up some lovely bits in the Anthropologie 20% off sale, which I just had to pop in here, as I’ve been so obsessed with them this weekend. How pretty are they?!

On Sunday, we headed over to York for the nicest day shopping for some Christmas decorations. If you’re lucky enough to live near York, you must visit there at this time of year, as there are so many shops where you can pick up very special decorations. It’s so magical.

We of course also stopped for a Sunday roast because, well, would it be Sunday without one?!

We then finished it off nicely with hot chocolates, and chocolate cake…

After that we had a little mooch around the shops, including the local chocolate shops, Betty’s (of course), and also Jo Malone to check out the new Christmas collection.

After all that shopping and eating, it was back home for a hot bath (it’s so cold now!) and to enjoy one of the lovely treats I picked up from Betty’s. Do marzipan fruits remind anyone else of Christmas as a child? I’m obsessed with them!
