Jo Malone Dark Amber & Ginger Lily Cologne Intense

Jo Malone Dark Amber & Ginger Lily Cologne Intense

I’m a bit of a Jo Malone fanatic aren’t I… yes, I’m pretty obsessed. But honestly guys, I use my space on the internet to share things with you that I love and only things that I love; so it makes sense that my blog is filled to the brim with lots of lovely Jo Malone bits. Jo Malone really is one of my favourite indulgences in life, and with coconut being my all time favourite scent, I can’t believe I didn’t discover this one sooner.

I actually blind bought this one, and I’m not really sure why. Because it was a blind purchase, I opted for the 50ml. I would never recommend blind buying fragrance, especially expensive more complex ones – as they smell differently on different people; I’ve made some pretty expensive mistakes doing that in the past with fragrance – but I just had a feeling about this one, and I was right. Not anywhere in the scent description for Dark Amber and Ginger Lily is coconut mentioned. I’m not even sure if it’s part of the notes for this, although it must be; as it’s the most dominating note I pick up. I was expecting a really heady, wintery type scent going on the name; but actually this reminds me of a summer holiday – a very exotic, very indulgent, very rich summer holiday. It’s stunning, and complex too. I say complex, because as much as it reminds me of a summer holiday, it actually reminds me of Christmas a bit too, and of long crisp winter walks; yes I know I sound a bit of a nutcase, one minute it reminds me of exotic holidays, the next Christmas… but I guess that’s the complexity of it.

Whenever I write a fragrance review, I’ve always worn it a good few times before; but I sit with the bottle in my hand and keep sniffing away at it, at the time of writing. Right now I’m actually struggling to finish the post, because I just can’t stop picking it up and inhaling. I’m actually now getting scents that remind me of walking into a super luxurious department store too – the leather, the lipsticks, the many different fragrant notes in the air. Perhaps I should stop describing it in my own way, as I’m probably sending you all over the place! The notes listed on the Jo Malone website are Black Cardamom; Black Orchid and Kyara Incense – much simpler than my Summer, Christmas, Winter walks / department store description. Basically, this fragrance makes me happy, very happy.

I love summer sun kissed holidays, Autumn / Winter are my favourite seasons, I LOVE Christmas, and shopping (erm, obviously) is one of my favourite things to do ever. Considering that personally, this fragrance reminds me of all of the above – it’s obviously a winner for me. Jo Malone Dark Amber & Ginger Lily can be purchased here.
