Afternoon Tea at Cocoa Cabana

Today I ventured into Manchester to experience afternoon tea at chocolatier and cake maker Cocoa Cabana.

Cocoa Cabana was founded in 2012 by Sarah Gallacher who trained at the world renowned Slattery’s Patissier and Chocolatiers, she’s now making her own chocolate delights for all to enjoy. This beautiful little shop is such a delight, as soon as you walk in you’re transformed into a chocolate haven filled with the prettiest, unique chocolate treats I’ve ever seen. The prices are so reasonable too for the level of skill and care that goes into producing them.

After being seated by the loveliest lady ever, our drinks orders were taken – we obviously had to go for the hot chocolates – which were available in pretty much every flavour imaginable! I sincerely mean this when I say it was the best hot chocolate I have ever had in my life. Please experience one of these if you are in the area… Our afternoon tea was then served up almost instantly (now that’s preparation for you). We were given the option of festive afternoon tea, and were thrilled when it was presented to us. Tier one consisted of a generous portion of sandwiches, the flavours were; turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce; smoked salmon & cream cheese; and a stunning brie offering (which unfortunately I was too busy stuffing my face with, to get the full ingredient list). These sandwiches were amazing, especially the turkey & stuffing offering – it was like Christmas in a sandwich, and the lady was happy to keep them coming.

Next up was the scones and raspberry cream tarts. The scone was so light, fluffy and buttery; I don’t think I’ve ever had a scone quite like it. It was served up with lashings of clotted cream and caramel sauce. The raspberry tart was perfection, with a crisp pastry filled with copious amounts of custard cream and raspberry jus. Now onto tier three, unfortunately I can’t comment on this level too much, as I was so so full I just couldn’t manage much more, I did however get to nibble at the brownie which was just pure chocolate heaven! The rest of the afternoon tea, the lady happily boxed up for me to takeaway. The service here was truly wonderful, we were never rushed and were made to feel so at home, I almost forgot that I was sitting in a cafe. It’s such a unique service that’s provided.

I couldn’t leave without taking away some treats, I purchased a box of eight handcrafted chocolates (which you are able to select yourself), a tin of their hot chocolate – which I can’t believe isn’t famous, I already can’t stop thinking about it, and a gorgeous chocolate lollipop.

Festive afternoon tea is priced at £16.95 per person with unlimited tea & coffee. You can upgrade to a hot chocolate (please do so!!!) for £1.50. Cocoa Cabana is situated at 128 Burton Road, West Didsbury, Manchester, M20 1JQ.
