Checking Out Some Charlotte Tilbury New Additions

I know these items aren’t new, new in… but I’ve had them for a little while now, but with everything else going on, I just didn’t really feel like blogging about makeup. But enough of that, as I want to keep this post positive, upbeat, and hopefully a distraction!

As I’ve studied makeup artistry, I’m massively into makeup that makes your eyes “pop”, it was one of the first things we learnt about, and I’ve always tried to choose my own eye makeup products based on that. Basically, if you take the colour of your eyes, then select the opposite colour on the colour wheel, this will bring out your eye colour and really make it pop. So for example; the opposite colour to blue, is orange, therefore if you have blue eyes, to really make them pop – you’d go for shades of browns, oranges, and copper. If you have brown eyes – blue tones would bring this out – and it really works.

Charlotte Tilbury have played on this, and recently released four new palettes designed just for this – and so I went ahead and purchased the Mesmerising Maroon, and Green Lights palettes. Mesmerising Maroon is the recommended shade to bring out my own eye colour, and Green Lights – well, I saw a makeup demo on Instagram and the colours looked right up my street, so I threw that in the basket too!

These palettes were cited to have a new and improved formula, and to be fair – I have to agree, especially with the shimmer shades, as soon as I swatched them, I kind of had a “woah” moment. I don’t see any difference with the matte shades to be fair, but the shimmers have gone from being great, to being incredible! Oh and the glitter “pop” shades in these have also been changed from more chunky glitter, to more of a subtle shimmer / sparkle effect. It may also be worth pointing out that the Green Lights palette, is actually just the new “The Rebel” palette, but I guess they added it to the collection, as it works with the whole eye colour pop effect.

Charlotte Tilbury Mesmerising Maroon

Both palettes work for me, but my god does the Mesmerising Maroon really work – it’s probably the most complimentary eyeshadow set I’ve ever used! I also purchased the matching eyeliner to really work the look – not a necessity, but it does really finish everything off, if you really wanted to go all out. Tilbury have always been a winner for me in the liner department, both eyeliner and lipliners, and I’m pleased to say that these ones don’t disappoint either.

Charlotte Tilbury Green Lights

It’s also worth noting that the Green Lights palette doesn’t have any matte shades in there, but to be fair, I’m not really into matte shadows anyway – so that works for me. And whilst I’m not flawed by the two darker colours, the gold and khaki shades are INCREDIBLE, and for me are worth the purchase of the palette for those two alone – that gold shade, wow!

Charlotte Tilbury Peachgasm Glowgasm

I also thought I’d check out two of the beauty light wands, I went for Peachgasm and Goldgasm. I know most people use these as highlighters, but I actually purchased these to use as eyeshadow bases, to really accentuate the colour. Goldgasm I purchased for the Green Lights palette, and Peachgasm I purchased for the Glowgasm palette – which I actually use as eyeshadow. Both of these are really gorgeous, but they do come out quite intensely – you only need the tiniest amount – and even then, I’d probably say Peachgasm would be too much for me to personally use as a highlighter shade – that being said, I am quite pale – but yeah, probably one for deeper skintones, if you’re using it as an actual highlighter. Goldgasm is stunning, and would make such a striking highlighter – but also works perfectly as the eyeshadow base I wanted. I actually think I’m starting to develop a little addiction to these wands, so I may look at purchasing some of the other shades too. All that being said, I do have one qualm, and that is the packaging… it delivers way too much product on application, much more than you’d possibly need – and that’s just from one squeeze; so hopefully this can be addressed, because the product itself is fantastic.

All in all, another successful Tilbury haul for me – of which I’d happily recommend every product, and will probably be going back for more!
