I bloody bought them didn’t I. The £105 foundation drops, and if you’ve clicked on this post, I reckon that the chances are that you’ve been adding them and removing them from your basket for a good while too… Anyway, with all the fuss about these that is literally everywhere, I thought I’d give my own realistic, balanced opinion – because while there are some really nice points, I just don’t think they’re quite the game changer “can’t live without” product that they’re being marketed as by a lot of TikTok influencers.
The whole selling point is that these are a skincare infused foundation (a really good one too), something you can almost just drop onto bare skin and go. In reality, that hasn’t been my experience. I still need to use a proper skincare base or primer to get a finish I’m happy with, and I also have to set them with powder, otherwise my full face would be down my neck come lunchtime. Does it give a lovely finish, yes, it really does – a gorgeous finish! – but once I’ve added my priming base, and then set the foundation with powder, it kind of defeats the object of paying a premium for foundation that’s meant to replace steps in your routine.
For the price point, there’s also no SPF included. If I’m spending that much on a base product that leans so heavily into the skincare angle, SPF feels like a pretty big omission. Chances are, if you’re even looking at these in the first place, you already own a good (probably expensive) moisturiser – and honestly, I don’t think these do anything that a nice foundation mixed with a really good moisturiser wouldn’t already achieve.
That said, it’s not all negatives. Once applied and set, they actually wear beautifully. On my skin, they lasted well throughout the day and continued to look fresh rather than breaking down or clinging in odd places. If you have dry skin like me, they’re great – hydrating, comfortable, and forgiving, but I probably wouldn’t recommend them for oily skin types though, as they are pretty sheer. Another thing I will give full credit for is the online shade matching. It’s really accurate, and my match was spot on, which is rare enough to be worth mentioning.
Overall, I like them, but I don’t love them in the way the price and marketing suggest I should. They’re a nice foundation, especially for dry skin, but they’re not revolutionary – and not something I’d rush to repurchase when I can get a very similar result from products I already own.
If you’re really into your beauty products, and you have the budget, I don’t think they’re a bad buy at all, but just make sure you go in with realistic expectations of what a foundation can actually do, because I don’t think they’re going to completley change your life to be honest.
