I love a Starbucks (obvs), but sometimes their offerings aren’t sweet enough, or creative enough for what I want – though they have been getting better at that this year, I have to give it to them. Anyway, here are five ideas that you can ask for that can be made using the existing UK menu syrups… Enjoy!
Iced White Chocolate and Hazelnut Latte
How to order: A grande Iced White Chocolate Mocha with two pumps of hazelnut syrup.
I think white chocolate and hazelnut is such an underrated combination, particularly in coffee. My idea is that it will taste a little like the inside of a Kinder Bueno, with a creamy, nutty sweetness. The white chocolate already makes the coffee quite rich, so I wouldn’t go too heavy on the extra syrup, but I think a little hazelnut would make this absolutely STUNnnning.
Iced Brown Sugar and Cinnamon Chai Latte
How to order: A grande Iced Chai Latte with two pumps of brown sugar syrup and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
Think the idea of making a chai latte taste even more like a cinnamon bun. Chai already has those warming spices, and I think adding brown sugar would give it a slightly deeper, caramelised sweetness. I’d definitely have this iced, even in autumn and winter. It sounds like such a lovely afternoon drink when you fancy something sweet but don’t necessarily want another coffee.
Iced Almond and White Chocolate Matcha
How to order: A grande Iced Matcha Latte with two pumps of almond syrup and one pump of white chocolate mocha sauce.
An iced white chocolate latte is my GO TO, so this is a twist on that… I love matcha with white chocolate, but I think adding almond could make it taste almost like a little marzipan dessert. The almond would give it that slightly sweet, nutty flavour, while the white chocolate would make everything really creamy. I think this would be especially lovely with oat milk.
Iced Salted Caramel Mocha
How to order: A grande Iced Caffè Mocha with two pumps of caramel syrup and a light sprinkle of salt, if the store can provide it.
Chocolate and salted caramel is always going to be a good combination in my opinion. I love the idea of taking a regular iced mocha and making it a little more indulgent with caramel. The tiny bit of salt would help balance the sweetness and bring out the chocolate flavour. If the store can’t add salt, I think the chocolate and caramel combination would still be lovely on its own.
Iced Brown Sugar and Hazelnut Latte
How to order: A grande Iced Caffè Latte with two pumps of brown sugar syrup and two pumps of hazelnut syrup, preferably with blonde espresso.
I think this would be such a good alternative to a regular caramel latte. Brown sugar has that lovely slightly toffee-like sweetness, and paired with hazelnut I imagine it would taste almost like a praline coffee. I would choose blonde espresso for something a little smoother and less intense. This sounds like exactly the kind of iced coffee I’d want to pick up on a Saturday morning.
