The red lip is a classic look that will never date. I’ve been on the hunt for an iconic shade of red for quite some time now, and finally found it at Charlotte Tilbury.
The Matte Revolution Lipsticks are the latest offering from Charlotte Tilbury, they are designed with a rather clever square angled tip which mimics the shape of a lip brush for a flawless application. This actually works really well and isn’t something I’ve ever seen before with other lipsticks – top marks here Charlotte Tilbury. I did lots of testing with these shades, and finally settled with Red Carpet Red. Lots of people find it difficult to wear red for fear of dulling the teeth or making their lips look smaller, but this has a brightening effect on the teeth due to the undertones in the colour, and the 3D pigments included in the lipstick give the illusion of fuller, wider lips. Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks are so comfortable to wear, they’re blended with oils & waxes and literally glide onto the lips, and they are super long lasting too. Yes, this is a matte lipstick, but it doesn’t dry out your pout at all.
These days, I’ll wear lipstick with a liner – especially bold colours like red – as it just gives a more professional and neater finish. After more shade testing, I decided to pair the lipstick with the Kiss ‘N’ Tell Lip Cheat. It’s really worth investing in a liner for a more precise application. This is another product that really does just glide on, it also helps to keep things in place all night.
As the shade is a matte colour, I also thought I’d treat myself to a gloss just incase I want to really glam the look up, and I therefore opted to go with the Red Vixen Lip Lusture (£16.50). This product is wonderful, as it can be worn alone, or over the top of lipstick for a more dramatic effect. This product also creates a fuller lip illusion and stays put for a whopping 6 hours, with no colour transfer. It’s also enriched with lotus flower extract to protect, hydrate and soothe the lips, and provides the perfect finish for that iconic red lip.
