My Favourite Jo Malone Colognes

Clearly it’s no secret that Jo Malone is one of my favourite brands ever… I post quite a lot about them on here – because my blog is a collection of everything I love – but which ones really make the cut, which ones are my most reached for, and which ones do I purchase time and time again..?

English Oak & Hazelnut and English Oak & Redcurrant

These two have grown to be (along with Blackberry & Bay) my absolute favourites this year. I already know that I’m going to have the Hazelnut option layered with Blackberry & Bay as my wedding fragrance; but to be honest, I can’t get enough of both. As the name would suggest, they are perfectly Autumnal. The opening notes both encapsulate Autumn very, very well: crisp air, long outdoor walks strolling through crunchy leaves, the excitement that the new season brings with it, thoughts of pumpkin carving, conker picking, images of the mesmerising colour changes. English Oak & Redcurrant has a bright and fruity twist; and hazelnut provides a more masculine, dewy scent. Perfection.

Blackberry & Bay

For me, this one epitomises Spring. It’s fresh, individual, delicate yet extremely long lasting; it has a very subtle hint of masculinity (something I always look for in my perfumes – but would also make the perfect bridal scent) it also smells very clean yet delicately sweet.

Peony & Blush Suede

I just adore this scent. I only discovered it last year, but now own the full sized bottle and two of the candles. It’s an all year round scent, but very much reminds me of Christmas, as that’s when I discovered it. It’s a modern floral with hints of rose, peony and red apple. Not at all powdery, but pleasant, a little sparkly and very girly, with a mesmerising twist of suede that brings masculinity and depth. A gorgeously complex offering.

Jasmine Sambac

Still very new to my collection, but I literally haven’t put it down all summer. Jasmine is my favourite flower scent, so it’s understandable that I’m drawn to this one. A refreshing yet sweet, oriental type fragrance that transports you to late summer flower gardens. Non offensive, yet intriguing at the same time.

Wood Sage & Sea Salt

After Pomegranate Noir, this was the second Jo Malone fragrance I discovered; and years later it still has a prime position in my collection. It has a top note of ambrette seeds, which Jo Malone state “wraps the fragrance with an aura of sophistication” – could not agree more. The heart note is sea salt, which adds freshness and the unique addition to the scent, this one is quite hard to describe in words as it really is like no other fragrance note. Then we have sage as the base note bringing depth and a tiny hint of masculinity to the mix.

Velvet Rose & Oud

Very much an Autumn / Winter fragrance for me (the best time of the year). Although a floral by name, I wouldn’t describe this cologne as a floral, not at all – yes it has the rose, but I’d liken it to more of a rose jam type scent, complimented by a very very delicate oud undertone, that adds depth and rarity. Rose jam again, is one of my favourite scents – so it’s obvious I would be drawn to this one. Another one of my most reached for in the colder months.
