Upping My Bridal Skincare Routine

Eve Lom Cleanser and Rescue Mask

I still have quite a while to go before we get married, but I thought it would be a good idea to start getting my skincare routine really nailed now, instead of changing up and experimenting with products right before the wedding, and run the risk of something not getting on with my skin. As an example, I started using the Charlotte Tilbury oil based makeup remover a few weeks ago, and in the first few days I thought it was fab, until it started making my skin break out big time – oil based products like that are clearly way too heavy for my skin, and that’s fine – but I would have been really upset if that had happened right before the wedding.

One thing that has been agreeing with my skin however, and I mean really agreeing with it is the Eve Lom range. Your wedding day is one of the biggest days of your entire life, and I obviously want to look my best, so I thought it was time to really up my skincare game and invest in some really good quality products. To be fair, I’ve kind of been obsessed with Eve Lom forever – I remember saving up my pocket money for weeks when I was 13 to buy the Eve Lom lip balm (it was the cheapest product, the only one I could afford, and to be honest – I didn’t even care what type of product it was) I was absolutely over the moon to own something from the range – so much so I think it took me about 4 years to get through it, as I’d just use the tiniest, tiniest amount so that it would never run out!!!

Anyway, I’ve been using the cleanser every day for about a month now and it’s honestly the best cleanser I have ever tried. It’s almost transforming my skin, and a little goes such a long way, which means it’s not actually that much more expensive than other cleansers when you work out the cost per use. Besides, with the results I’m getting from it, I really think it’s worth the cost regardless. You apply it to dry skin, it’s like an oily balm texture that’s massaged in; then you soak one of the muslin cloths in hot water, press it into your face for 5 seconds, inhale the lovely scents, then remove it with the cloth – the cloth acts as an exfoliant for the skin, as well as removing every scrap. My skin feels so soft afterwards, and beautifully clean – to the point where, I know I shouldn’t, but I can’t stop touching it. I usually hate using water to clean my face too, but I love using this product, as the clever muslin cloth method means you don’t get water dripping all over the place (ergh).

I’ve also been using the rescue mask which also gives incredible results… it’s one of the few masks I see a genuine difference within my skin by using – Kiehl’s and Alpha H are also great for that – and one I’ll return to again and again. My skin always feels decongested, super soft, cleansed and just generally renewed when I’ve used it – and it’s a perfect pick me up for tired, dull looking skin. I highly recommend.

Another thing I’ve just started trying out is Microdermabrasion, it’s still early days with this one so I think it’s too early to write up a review on yet, but I am seeing some really good results with it initially – if those continue I’ll write up a full blog post about my experience with it, so fingers crossed and hopefully watch this space. All in all though, I’m really pleased with how my skin is transforming and I think I’ll keep up to these products even after the wedding – I’m kind of hooked now…
