Afternoon Tea at Fleur Cafe

IMG_1772

One of the newer offerings to Leeds, I’ve been wanting to try the afternoon tea at Fleur Cafe for quite a while now. For such a beautiful afternoon tea, it’s really fairly priced – £16.95 pp to include any hot drink, or a selected non alcoholic cocktail; or £27.95 to include a glass of champagne. They’re very flexible with mixing and matching your drinks too, which I found really nice.

What I also love about their offering, is that it sticks to tradition, but adds a nice modern twist… beautifully presented canapés, and stunning little petit fours for dessert. Traditional, but modern at the same time.

There were three canapés per person on offer, all gorgeous, but… because they’re not in sandwich form (so less bread) they weren’t as filling – and I would have liked maybe one more each – I think that would have balanced the sweet to savoury out quite nicely. You also get one scone each, which we were advised were freshly baked – nice touch. The jam, cream and butter offerings were really generous and well thought out too, and our waiter said should we need anymore, to just give him a shout. Whilst pleasant, I wasn’t overly excited about my scone – I found it to be slightly overcooked – but my friend really liked hers, so that may just be personal preference.

The top tier, the petit fours were stunning – and looked stunning too! They got the balance between chocolate and fruit offerings just right – but as they were so small (as petit fours are), it was difficult to share – we cut them in half, but it was challenging due to the size – which was a shame, as we obviously both wanted to try each option, and had to decide who wanted what.

All in all, I thought this was a really lovely afternoon tea. The service was brilliant too. I’d return again I think, and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a lovely treat, or afternoon out.
