Glossier You

This is quite possibly the strangest perfume I’ve ever tried… but in a really, really good way. I saw so many reviews online describing it as smelling “like the mall”, and should I live in America and go to malls – which I most definitely would (I envisage it to be much like the Mean Girls mall) – I can genuinely imagine the scent to be similar; but again, in a really, really good way. It’s so hard to even describe what I mean, and that’s because Glossier You is probably the most unique scent I’ve ever worn.

If you didn’t already guess, I love it. Really love it. It’s definitely more of a daytime scent – and perhaps not a work one – you could wear it for work if you wanted, it’s not at all offensive – it’s just that I don’t get work vibes from it, at all. For me, it’s a cinema, lunch with friends, perhaps a few cocktails, shopping trip kind of vibe; it gives me a really good feeling, and I associate it with things I love to do.

It’s priced at £45 for 50ml, and I think that’s fair. I’d say it’s on the moderate scale of longevity, and it won’t leave a trail of sillage behind you… but actually, it would be strange if it did. This is more of an up close and personal scent; which *brainwave* I’ve just clicked that the name You, is very, very fitting.

Glossier describes the notes as; ambrette – comfy & warm; ambrox – smooth,  salty & animalistic; musk – long lasting & addictive; iris root – earthy, green & woody; and pink pepper – spicy & sparkling. Complex, huh? But personally, I don’t liken it to anything, except myself. It’s a very clever fragrance that genuinely does react with your own body chemistry to smell like the most wonderful version of You. Okay so I’m starting to sound like an advert now, and this most definitely isn’t – so I’m going to stop the rambling.

Basically, I love it. I think it’s definitely worth the money, and I think it’s extremely innovative and unique. All this being said – I don’t think anyone should bind buy it. You’ll either love this, or you’ll hate it; and I do think it should be tested first. Glossier do tend to offer this as a sample generally with their orders, so if you are placing an order – you might want to pop the free sample in your basket. Enjoy!
