Giving Beauty Pie a Chance…

Beauty Pie Super Healthy Skin Moisture Creme, Deep Treatment Serum, Deep Nourishing Moisture Balm

Okay, so I wanted to hate it… I really did. You see, truth be told, I’m a real snob when it comes to cosmetics, especially skincare; and I’m also a creature of habit, I know what I like, and I like what I know, but Beauty Pie was popping up everywhere – every bloody where – with all these rave reviews, and I was starting to find it hard to ignore. Now let’s be honest, a lot of those reviews were gifted and sponsored posts (this isn’t, I bought these items with my own money), and the skeptic in me thought that some of them may be biased and over raving… and so it put me off even further. But lo and behold, the intrigue got me in the end, and last week a pink box got plonked down on my doorstep.

So bear in mind this is a first impressions post – it’s been a week, so I can’t really claim that all signs of ageing have disappeared from my face due to these products – but honestly guys, my early impressions are decent… quite decent, in fact. I won’t babble on about the concept and how it works – I think most people get it by now – and if you don’t, in short, it’s a beauty subscription service founded by Marcia Kilgore, the woman behind Bliss and Soap & Glory, amongst others. You pay a subscription fee each month (tiered depending on how many products you want to purchase), and are given access to an array of beauty products that are produced in some of the top end labs in the world, the same as the high end products we know and love – but the price point is much less, due to those high end names and brandings not being assigned to the products.

Anyway – back to said pink parcel arriving. Rather surprisingly, the whole packaging concept really does have the wow factor. To be honest, I thought it all looked a bit cheap and rubbishy on the website, but it really isn’t. For a start, nobody can find fault with a millennial pink box landing in your hands… but the product packaging is very impressive too – seriously Beauty Pie, if you’re reading – your website isn’t doing it justice… it’s dressing table display top stuff… and already winning me over, before I’ve even dissected the contents. I bought three items – two facial skincare, one body – and I’ll delve into each one individually:

Plantastic Deep Nourishing Moisture Balm

Again, I’ll reiterate – this is a first impressions post; so I can’t comment yet on the long term effects, but short term – this is a dream. I suffer from very dry skin as soon as the temperature dips, and this week I’ve also turned the heating back on (hopefully my boyfriend won’t read this one) – my skin hates it, and sometimes, I just can’t seem to quench it. This is perfect. A thick, luxurious balm, that feels like an absolute treat to apply, yet somehow sits perfectly on your skin. It feels lightweight, non clogging, and doesn’t weigh it down at all. It also applies beautifully under my eyes, and doesn’t make them water or sting, like some heavy creams can. It also made my skin look noticeably healthier, instantly. This will be getting re purchased, in fact – asap.

JapanFusion Deep Treatment Serum

Very impressive packaging. Again, a real treat to apply – it felt almost cushiony. Did it have groundbreaking effects on my skin instantly? To be honest, no. But I will be using it until it runs out – and actually, it may have effects over time – so it’s slightly unfair to judge it after one week. You would need to layer this under a moisturiser on an evening – but it would also make the perfect under foundation base – it doesn’t pill either (that thing that can happen when your base starts reacting with your foundation and balling up) so that’s a major plus point. Will I purchase this one again? Probably not, but only because I prefer to keep my routine simple and not have too many steps. Whereas I haven’t yet found the product to be life changing, I also have no negatives to say about it either.

Super Healthy Skin Deluxe Body Moisture Creme

Ah this is a treat! It smells beautifully fresh, slightly masculine, and ever so clean. It feels like a really expensive product, and the texture is to die for. I really enjoy putting this on, and will be re purchasing it again. Again, I haven’t noticed any groundbreaking effects on the appearance of my skin; but it does the job of keeping me moisturised; and the scent lasts for a good few hours after application too. Really lovely stuff.

So Beauty Pie… what a shocker, eh? I genuinely thought I was going to try these three products, then cancel my membership and never give it another thought. But actually, I won’t be cancelling my membership – and I’m eagerly awaiting my monthly allowance to reset, so I can order more. Who knew? What I will say, is that I’m only really interested in the skincare stuff – they do a wide range of makeup products too – but (as superficial as this sounds) a lot of my makeup products I enjoy and adore partly because of the packaging – Tilbury, for example. Don’t get me wrong, if the packaging was incredible, but the product was tripe – it would be a no – but I do enjoy the excitement of a beautifully packaged makeup product. Skincare however… surprisingly, I may just be on to a winner here.

If you did want to try it yourself – I do have a referral code, where you can get your first months membership free – click here. That’s absolutely not why I wrote the post however; in all honesty I only realised I have a referral code when I went to check my remaining monthly allowance earlier (everyone gets one). If you fancy it, enjoy – and if not, hopefully you enjoyed reading the post at a minimum.
